I am a licensed printer for many impressive science fiction and fantasy designers, through various Kickstarters, Patreons, and other agreements. Generally speaking, I suggest printing terrain pieces in PLA and models for table top gaming in resin. A good rule is that the smaller or more detailed the object to be printed, the more likely it will be better done in resin and not PLA.
Prototype Printing
I am able to provide support for engineering or architectural prototypes / mockups at a very reasonable price point, with the understanding that the printed objects will have a variance due to the nature of the materials, and that the printed objects cannot be used directly in any application in which they are integral to health & safety. Producing a prototype for test of fit, shape, or printability in PLA is far cheaper than producing it in a final material and finding out that some measurements were not correct.
